Triumph of the Dragon Queen Guide

Triumph of the Dragon queen is the first 10 man raid available at level 60. The entrance to Triumph of the Dragon Queen is located in Kingsward at 5713, 8753, in front of the Tower of Dawn entrance (if you quested in Kingsward you’ll know what I’m talking about). To see the entrance to the 10 man raid you need to use Quantum Sight.
Requirements

To spare yourself from wipes there are a few things you need to know about Triumph of the Dragon Queen before adventuring inside.

Gear:

For this raid you will need 2 tanks. Both of the tanks will need 400 toughness to not get smashed by bosses.

The rest of the raid will need 420 focus to be able to hit the bosses.

Skill:

The encounters are not difficult and the enrage timers are not tight. Triumph of the Dragon Queen is meant to be easy so people can gear up by running it. You will need basic skills to be able to clear this raid, as in: move from stuff on the ground, interrupt, switch target and press your healing buttons.
Bosses

I’m not familiar with the lore behind this 10 man raid, but you will see familiar faces inside. There are 4 bosses and 2 mini events.

Grand Falconer Zoles

Grand Falconer Zoles is the first boss in the 10 man raid Triumph of the Dragon Queen.

Health: 12.800.000

Enrage timer: 6 minutes

Difficulty: easy

Must have ability: interrupt
Raid Setup

2 tanks: any class can tank this boss.

2 healers: 1 chloro and 1 sent/puri will easily do the trick for this boss.

1 support: 1 bard.

5 dps: anything will do, this encounter doesn’t favor ranged or melee specs.
Grand Falconer Zoles Tactics

This is an easy fight and if the DPS squad has enough hit to pull decent numbers you won’t be having issues with this fight.

Abilities:

Lightning Sphere: 1.5 seconds cast time, targets a random raid member. Deals 60.000 damage on impact, can be shared with 8 other players, reducing the damage to 7.500. To easily deal with this mechanic just stack behind the boss at all times. Don’t be shy throwing the big purifier shields on everyone to avoid some of the damage.
Energy Lash: 2 seconds cast, chains between 3 people, deals 4.000, 6.000 and 8.000 damage. Outheal it or spread out for it. In our previous tries we didn’t manage to spread out enough to make this ability hit only 1 player so it’s best to just remain stacked behind the boss and outheal it. The danger of this ability comes from the fact that it follows the Lightning Sphere damage, but if you have Purifier shields on the raid it won’t affect you.
Healing debuff: every 20 seconds he will place a healing debuff on everyone standing in front of him. Reduces healing received by 10% per stack and lasts 29 seconds. This was supposed to be a tank swap mechanic I believe, but the stacks reset during his Leap Phase and 1 player can easily tank the boss for the entire encounter.
Static Empowerment: 2 seconds cast, must be interrupted.
Summon Skyscream: 10 seconds into the fight he will summon an add named Skyscream with 1.400.000 HP. Have the second tank pick it up and tank it on top of the boss so you can cleave it down (make sure he is not standing in front of the boss so he doesn’t get the healing debuff). This add will gain a stacking buff that increases damage done so at some point you will have to kill it. When the add is at 30% you will have to move it out of the raid and then DPS him down to 20%. At 20% it will explode (marked with a blue bubble) dealing 50.000 damage to anyone near it. 5 seconds after it explodes, the add will be reborn (damage stacks will reset) and you need to repeat the drill. Every time you kill a Skyscream, Zoles gains a stacking buff that increases his outgoing damage on all his attacks. This means that Lightning Sphere will hit harder and harder on the raid. People that don’t have full expert gear will probably start dying at the 3rd stack on the boss.
Leap: every minute he will spawn 4 expanding purple areas around the room. You want to dodge them. Also after this phase is over you have to stack quickly behind him again because Lightning Sphere comes immediately. It’s best to just move as a group while avoid the purple zones.

The fight is easy and you should nail it down in a few tries. Good luck !

Cyril Strategy

Cyril is the second boss in Triumph of the Dragon Queen 10 man raid and it’s a fairy simple fight.

Health: 13.600.000

Enrage timer: 5 minutes 30 seconds

Difficulty: easy

Must have ability: purge
Raid Setup

2 tanks: anything will do.

2 healers: this fight only requires tank healing and you can easily do it with 1 healer. But the boss mind controls, so to be on the safe side I would suggest using 2 healers.

1 support: the almighty Bard to buff the raid.

5 DPS: on this fight it’s easier to be ranged, but melee also does fine.
Cyril Tactics

Jump down into the room and go to the middle. Before you can engage Cyril he will roleplay for 30 seconds so you have time to position.

Abilities:

Glimpse of Insanity: 3 seconds channel, applies 1 stack of Insanity each second to anyone standing in front of the boss. Each stack reduces the health of a player by 10%. This is the tank swap mechanic. Tanks should taunt off each other after 2 casts of Glimpse of Insanity.
Crushing Burden: 2 seconds cast, deals 26.000 damage around the boss. Tanks can use a cooldown to soak this ability and melee needs to move out. Once upon a time this damage used to be shared to everyone being in melee range (like a meteor type attack) but I can’t guarantee 100% that that’s still the case.
Mien of Supremacy: 2 seconds cast, buffs himself with Mien of Supremacy which increases his outgoing damage. Purge it.
Inevitable Judgement: 2.5 second cast, knock everyone back and roots them in place for 2 seconds.
Temple’s Wrath: 2 seconds cast followed by a 10 seconds channel. Makes the pillars around the room spew fire. Come right after Inevitable Judgement. If you got knocked back you need to run back into the inner circle. The best way to avoid this mechanic is to stand with your back to one of the broken tables, then you can just ignore this ability because you will never get knocked far enough to be affected by the fire.
Mind control: every 30 seconds he will summon a Puppet Master with 150.000 health which will mind control a player. Kill it fast.

Here it is, the great Cyril in his 10 man boss form, being … not so great.

Jultharin Strategy

Jultharin is the third boss in the 10 man raid Triumph of the Dragon Queen.

Health: 14.400.000

Enrage timer: 5 minutes 30 seconds

Difficulty: medium (with blue gear)

Must have ability: interrupt
Raid Setup

1 tank: any class can do this.

2 healers: aoe healers are needed for this fight. A Warden and a Chloro can handle it without issues.

1 support: Bard or a Tactician/Bard hybrid can work as well.

6 DPS: ranged DPS is needed for this fight. You can probably carry 1 melee DPS max.
Jultharin Tactics

Position the boss in the middle of the room. Also make a rule on how to break the wisp barriers. There will be wisps coming from left/right or/and top/bottom of the room (see below). Our rule is that we always break the bottom, then the top, then the left, then the right wisp barrier, depending on which spawns. This makes people less confuse.

Abilities:

Shocking Blast: 1 second cast, hits the tank for about 11.000 damage.
Deranging Tempest: 2 seconds cast, AOE fear. Must be interrupted.
Jultharin’s Spark: every 30 seconds he will summon a wisp barrier that can spawn from one of the sides of the room (left, right, top, bottom). You have 20 seconds to kill a wisp (274.000 HP) and make a hole in the barrier to safely get across or your entire raid will die. When the boss gets under 50% health he will summon 2 barriers at the same time. This is the point where the kill rule comes handy. Knowing what to hit first make a huge difference.
AOE damage: every 15 seconds he gains a 3 seconds buff which deals 2.500 damage a second. Outheal it.

As you can see the boss doesn’t have a lot of abilities. A little bit of aoe damage and a bit of tank damage. The main issue in this fight is breaking the wisp barriers. Make sure everyone knows the kill order and that you have someone in charge of marking which wisp to kill.

General Typhiria Strategy

General Typhiria is the last boss in Triumph of the Dragon Queen. If you found any of the previous bosses to be hard, they are nothing compared to her.

Health: 13.810.000

Enrage timer: 7 minutes

Difficulty: medium

Must have ability: none
Raid Setup

1 tank: any class can tank her. Cleric tank would be advised for the extra combat ress.

3 healers: there is a lot of AOE damage going around in Phase 1 so you want to be able to cover that.

1 support: can be a Bard or a Tactician/Bard hybrid.

5 DPS: melee or ranged it doesn’t matter.
General Typhiria Tactics

General Typhiria encounter is made out of 2 phases. In Phase 1 you will fight her in her human form and in Phase 2 she will transform into a dragon.

Phase 1

In Phase 1 General Typhiria will be in her human for and she will have 6.600.000 HP. To push her into Phase 2 you need to take her to 15%. Until then you will need to survive her evil abilities.

Abilities:

Lightning Surge: 2 seconds cast, chains between 3 people and deals 4.000 damage.
Tempest of Agony: 10 seconds channel, deals 6.000 damage every 2 seconds.
Storm Warden: 10 seconds into the fight she will summon a foothold (Storm Warden) with 1.000.000 HP and 2 adds (Storm Mistress) with 686.000 HP. 1 minute after she spawns the Storm Warden she will start AOEing your raid to death. To avoid this you need to kill the Storm Warden and pick up the protective blue orb. To kill the Storm Warden in time you will have to kill one of the Storm Mistress and then use the reactive ability you gain after killing the add on the Storm Warden twice. Be careful ! When a Storm Mistress is about to die she will explode (marked with a yellow bubble). Move out of it or die.
Dark Clouds: 3 seconds cast, by the end of the cast you want to pick up the blue orb that spawned after you killed the Storm Warden and be inside the blue zone and at max range from the boss.
Storm Blast: 2.5 seconds cast time, places a yellow death zone on a player. You must move out of it. After Dark Clouds she will spam Storm Blast for a minute before going back to what she was doing before that. To avoid this ability stand as far away from the boss as you can and on top of the player holding the blue orb. When you move out of it you want the entire raid to move in the same direction so everyone is still inside the blue zone. The effect of Storm Blast is sometimes bigger then the marked area so move as far as you can.

If your DPS is low you might have to repeat this sequence twice.

I know this probably sounds hard, but when you will see it for yourself you will know what I’m talking about.

Pull the boss in the middle of the room and burn her as much as you can. When the Storm Warden and the Mistress spawn bring them to the boss, mark 1 and kill her then use the reactive ability you gain on the Storm Warden to kill it. Don’t pick up the blue orb just yet, leave it there until she starts casting Dark Clouds. Keep on DPSing her down until them.

In this first minute she will cast Tempest of Agony twice so healers be ready to outheal that. Make sure you are standing in a safe spot if you are a healer. You don’t want to have to move from the adds exploding when you have to spam heal for Tempest of Agony.

When she casts Dark Clouds run to the orb, have someone pick it up (run on top of it), then move max range from the boss and stack on the person holding the orb. When the yellow band appears, everyone strafe in the direction you chose to avoid it. You will have to do this 5 times before this phase is over. After the orb phase ends she will cast Tempest of Agony so healers need to be prepared.

Phase 2

If you made it to Phase 2, congrats, you are now on the right path. I don’t think it’s possible to wipe in this phase. There is almost no damage going around and the only thing you have to worry about is running circles around the dragon to avoid the breath.

In this phase you will be fighting General Typhiria in her dragon form. She has 8.200.000 health and only 1 deadly ability.

Abilities:

Lightning Surge: 2 seconds cast, chains on 3 people, deals 4.000 damage.
Whirlwind of Agony: 10 second channel, deals 800 damage every 2 seconds (I guess someone forgot to add a 0 or something to this ability).
Blue circle: move away from it, it lifts you in the air.
Storm Wardens: she will summon 2 Storm Wardens and 2 Storm Raiders. You can ignore them. If you do decide to kill them you will be rewarded with 4 blue orbs that increase your run speed for 20 seconds. Not worth bothering with them if you ask me.
Dark Clouds: 3 seconds cast, marks the beginning of the “run circles around the dragon” phase.
Typhiria’s Wrath: 2 seconds cast followed by a 40 seconds channel. She does a breath and spins counterclockwise. You have to run away from the breath. Use a run speed aura if you must, but you should be able to outrun the breath without any speed buffs. Also don’t get to close to her either. There will be a small green area around her. If you touch that area she will knock you back. She does this ability every minute.
Unknown Bird add: there is a bird add spawning at some point during this fight as well. Just ignore it. If you kill it, it will explode (like on Falconer Zoles). Most of the times it ends up exploding while people are running circles to avoid the breath and results in undesired deaths.

This phase is really easy and you should be able to make it even if you do suffer casualties. Her enrage doesn’t do much, the only ability that will harm you is Lightning Surge and as long as you are spread out it will only kill 1 player at a time. As I said, if you make it through Phase 1 she is as good as dead.

Achievement Guide

TDQ Guide, read and learn mechanics.

Raid Composition: (For entire instance.)

1 Tank (Who isn't bad.)

1 Healer (Liberator, but add a Chloro for Zoles and a Chloro + Puri for Typhiria.)

1 Bard/Oracle (Preferably Oracle, just use the Energy Buff where there isn't a Chloro and use a Speed Buff on Typhiria.)

1 Archon (Preferably Harbchon.)

6 Single-Target DPS (With AoE specs....wasting time is bad.)

If you're doing Rapid pay no attention to mechanics and just nuke everything you see, especially the boss. If not, keep reading.

Grand Falconer Zoles:

Nuke boss, nuke bird, nuke boss, nuke bird, keep doing that till it's dead. Unlike Storm Legion you don't need a BiS Healer or any timing for the bird kill, just do it and you're done.

Spark of Ignition:

Legit explaining this since people are so clueless how it works. Have everyone line up between the pile of explosives and the altar. First person grabs the spark and then passes it along using the reactive ability, everyone else who receives it does the same. Depending on your positioning this may go awfully wrong, if you aren't needed in the line then go stand really far away like downstairs.

Cyril:

Nuke it and don't purge anything. It isn't hard at all.

Jultharin:

Nuke boss, nuke sparks if your DPS is low, nuke boss. Done.

General Typhiria:

Phase 1: Nuke down before anything happens.

Phase 2: Nuke boss to 30% then leave it. After this proceed to kill Storm Riders then do some reactive stuff to kill Storm Wardens (Or if your DPS is high enough just nuke the Storm Wardens because the damage reduction isn't as great as it looks.). By the time you've destroyed 5 sets of Storm Wardens, you should have killed 10 adds so your raid achievement is done. Now nuke the boss. For the Personal Achievement you should have picked up 5 Ride the Storm buffs which spawn around the room every time a Storm Warden is destroyed. If you didn't, deal with it. Also you have a breath mechanic, if it happens to occur try dodging it because it's gonna do knockback which can send you flying into one of the sparks moving along the edges which can one-shot you.

If you did this correctly then good job, you conquered Triumph of the Dragon Queen!
